Ableton Push 2
From the makers of the best selling Push comes the new Push 2 from Ableton. The Push 2 can be used at either home in the studio or on stage and it gives you the best of both worlds for creating music: excellent hardware for hands on control and then software where you can fine tune your creation at the end.
Push is an instrument that puts everything you need to make music in one place-at your fingertips.
Making music is hard. To stay in the flow, you need to be able to capture your ideas quickly, and you need technology to stay out of the way. Computers make it possible for one person to create whole worlds of sound. But instruments are where inspiration comes from. Push gives you the best of everything. It's a powerful, expressive instrument that gives you hands-on control of an unlimited palette of sounds, without needing to look at a computer.
Capture your Music
Play or step sequence all of your musical ideas. Whether playing drums or pitched instruments, Push adapts to your musical needs, with great feeling pads and controls that keep you in the flow.
All of your sounds, at your fingertips
Access all of Live's devices, your third-party plug-ins, and samples. Use Push to browse, preview, and load your sounds. Get fast hands-on access to Live's built-in devices, VST or Audio Units plug-ins, and your sample library.
Tweak instruments, samples and effects
The colour display shows your sample or device parameters, enabling intuitive but powerful sound design from the touch-sensitive encoders.
Create your song
Record everything you play. Create variations and try out new combinations to play with song structure. Push captures every move you make into musical ideas that you can recombine to create your song.
Mix and Refine
Get hands-on with your mix using the encoders and adjust levels, pans, and sends with immediate feedback on the display.
Play and Perform
Push 2 is equally at home in the studio or on stage. Keep your performances in-the-moment by switching between improvising with loops and playing drums, notes, and chords-all from the same expressive grid of pads.
Finish your Song
When you're ready to get into detailed arranging, editing, and exporting your finished song, switch from Push to your computer to find your music already laid out in Ableton Live-the software that was powering your work the whole time.
Push gives you the best of both worlds for making music: inspiring hardware for hands-on control at the beginning, and full-featured music creation software for fine-tuning the details at the end.
Browse, preview and load your own samples, access Live's vast library of drums, or explore the Beat Tools Pack - a toolkit of sounds for beatmaking that comes with Push. Then play beats live with the 64 velocity-sensitive pads and adjust sounds and kits while you play, using eight touch-sensitive endless encoders. Or switch to a 16-pad mode that allows you to play in real time, step sequence beats, and adjust the length of your loop, all at the same time.
You can also tweak timing, velocity, and parameter values individually for each pad.
Work with Samples
Three separate workflows offer fast and flexible ways to get creative with your samples. Classic mode lets you turn melodic samples into playable pitched instruments. In One Shot mode, samples playback monophonically and all the way through, no matter how long you hold the pad - perfect for playing drums. You can also transpose a playing sample without retriggering it, allowing you to transform musical phrases into whole new melodies.
Slicing mode is designed for chopping up longer samples.
Do even more from Push
Live 10 brings new functionality and new high-res visualizations to Push. Now you'll spend even less time with the computer whether you're composing ideas, editing MIDI or shaping and mixing sounds.
New Melodic Step Sequencing Layout
Simultaneously sequence notes and play them in from the same pad layout the bottom half of the layout allows you to play notes in real time while the top half lets you sequence them.
Advanced Device Visualization
See Wavetable or Echo in rich detail on Push as you play. When mixing, you'll see spectrum analysis on EQ Eight, as well as advanced Mid/Side and Left/Right EQ modes. Get real-time audio visualizations from Live's Compressor: see threshold settings and compressor activity, plus set up sidechain routing.
MIDI Note View
Navigate and refine the notes of your pattern in context directly on the Push display. Press and hold a step in your sequence to zoom in and use the on-screen control to adjust velocity, note position and length.

Gotta admit I've been highly skeptical of these grid type controllers. I got a Maschine Mk3 a while back and kinda got the appeal. But the Push 2 is next level. The amount of stuff you can do without ever touching a mouse or keyboard is staggering. And the step and performance features are really inspiring. Every day it seems I get at least 3 or 4 little ideas down in between work. Probably one of the coolest and impressive pieces of kit I've bought in a fair few years. Get one!
Holding off for a couple of years is my only regret. Push 2 is so intuitive after a quick and easy setup. Like others say, this has lifted my production skills and knowledge, making it us easier as well as quicker to write music. Solid piece of kit that will last years. Ableton provide a lot of handy ideo guides how to get the best out of Push 2. Don't delay, get one today!
As a previous logic pro user I switched to ableton in the last 3 months saw push 2 and just had to get one. Im surprised at how much I can do without the need to touch my mouse. It allows me to build tracks 80% hands on with the push 2 with minimal interaction with my Mac. its possible to do 100% push 2 but some after market plugins would require you to map the midi controls yourself. Honestly the push 2 is everything they said it was and more. Its pretty easy to learn with the plethora of tutorials on line so if your stuck Id suggest get online. 100% happy that I made the right purchase with this. If your thinking about getting one stop wasting time and get one
Buying a Push 2 has given my production capabilites, A massive e boost, From drum programming to sequencing, To creating chord progressions and beyond. Love the way you can dial in parameters to virtually everything in Ableton live. It looks and feels great, The build quality of the unit is amazing, Absolutely solid.
