The turntable has been created by Technics in collaboration with Red Bull to mark their partnership with Red Bull BC One, home to the world’s biggest breakdance competition.
The limited edition turntable features some subtle (and some not so subtle) Red Bull customisations that make this DJ deck unique. The first thing you'll notice is the 'Red Bull' red headshell which contrasts sharply with the tonearm which features a golden finish coupled with the turntable’s decal incorporating a “Technics x Red Bull BC One” emblem.
The unit is supplied with a special edition slip mat covered in a ‘BC One’ design and finish. Despite the visual cues the turntable keeps the same core feature set as the Technics 1210-MK7 with support for 33-1/3, 45 and 78rpm speeds, full digital control over pitch adjustment, Coreless direct drive motor, and S-shaped tonearm that provides high tracking performance, ensuring that the stylus doesn’t skip even during intense DJ scratching sessions.
As icing on the cake, the strobe light, a staple fixture on all SL-1210 models since the original, has been modified so it illuminates in red and blue.
The Red Bull BC One E-Battle (online) World Final is set for late October. Winners of the b-boys and b-girls categories will get a SL-1210MK7 as a prize.
1000 of these turntables are being made worldwide, with only 250 models of the SL-1210MK7R will be available to purchase in the UK.
The power and phono cable terminals allow detachment of the cables. The phono terminals are gold-plated to minimise sound quality degradation. Since the terminals allow disconnection of the cables, maintenance of the cables is easier, and your favourite phono cable can be connected to let you enjoy the change in sound quality resulting from a different cable.
The SL-1210MK7R employs the newest motor control technology refined through the development of Blu-ray disc products. Utilising a microcomputer, this advanced motor control technology ensures high performance in normal rotation and also responds accurately to a wide range of DJ play styles, such as scratching.
The starting torque and brake speed can be adjusted individually to suit the user’s preference.
The rotation speed can be set to 33-1/3 rpm, 45 rpm or 78 rpm.* The pitch control function allows fine adjustment of the rotation speed within ±8%/±16%. This function achieves accurate and stable pitch control thanks to full digital control with improved tracking performance and accuracy.
* To use the 78 rpm speed, the switch on the main unit must be turned on.
The platter rotates in the reverse direction when the speed selector button and Start/Stop button are pressed simultaneously. This expands the breadth of DJ play styles.
*To use the reverse play function, the switch on the main unit must be turned on.
* The phono cartridge used must support scratch play.
