Technics Announce SL-1210GR in black

Technics Announce SL-1210GR in black

Black SL-1210GR Turntable:

Never ones to do things by the book, Technics have surprised everyone by not only sending out a press release on a Saturday (February 4th 2017), but also by the content of said press release.  It basically contained two bits of information; that Technics are releasing a black SL-1210GR turntable and also that they wish to make it clear that they are not forgetting DJs.

Let's attack that second point first.  It had appeared that Technics had snubbed DJs slightly with their latest releases, and that opinion was backed up with comments from Technics' creative director, Hiro Morishita last month, who suggested the DJ community is no longer a viable market.  This latest press release, along with the recent announcement of the SL-1200GR implies these comments may have been taken out of context, as Technics Director at Panasonic Michiko Ogawa states:  "The SL-1200GR and SL-1210GR combine the best of both worlds.  We are sure both models will fulfil the expectations of Technics fans around the globe.  Our objective was to extend our top range for audio enthusiasts as well as professional DJs."  So it looks like they are still looking after us.

So... On to the SL-1210GR in black.

Technics Announce SL-1210GR in black

Looking it over, it appears to be exactly the same spec as the SL-1200GR that was announced a few months ago, but in black!  That makes total sense to us as the majority of DJ gear is black in colour, so it won't stand out next to your black mixer for example.  Plus, we do think the black version is pretty sexy and it's expected release date is April 2017.   If you are interested in it's vital statistics, the full spec is below.
