Pioneer have collaborated with the infamous DJ Jazzy Jeff to bring a new and improved DJ controller, designed for Serato DJ Lite (formerly known as Serato Intro). Like its predecessor, the DDJ-SB2, the SB3 is an intuitive interface, ideal for beginners to improve their skills, as well as craft their performances.
This DDJ-SB3 is not just for beginners though, as its combination of professional features and its portability means that like the SB2, the SB3 will be a favourite of the pros, especially as the interface of the new DDJ-SB3 is even more intuitive than ever and now includes dedicated play and cue buttons as well as an independent auto loop button.
Hooking up with DJ Jazzy Jeff has bred the new 'Pad Scratch' feature, allowing you to reproduce scratches based on Jazzy's own recordings, with a simple press of the Performance Pads. 'FX Fade' has also been added to help aid a perfectly smooth mix, meaning even a novice can create a professional performance.
To keep in sync with the DDJ-S range, the SB3's layout is very similar to some of the larger 'S Range' controllers in the series. The Performance Pads, Jog Wheels, Cue Buttons, Play Buttons, Auto Loop as well as the fader positions on the mixer are arranged for hands-on professional performances!
As previously mentioned, a world first on the DDJ-SB3 is the 'Pad Scratch' feature, that at the touch of a Performance Pad allows you to imitate 8 scratch techniques that have been recorded by the man himself; DJ Jazzy Jeff.
The all new FX Fade feature is again, new to the DDJ-SB and allows for amazingly smooth, faultless transitions between tracks, as you can reduce volume and apply FX at the same time! 8 FX are available, including HP Filter, LP Filter, Loop Playback and Back Spin.
See below how the all new DDJ-SB3 compares to its predecessor, the DDJ-SB2 and it's Rekordbox brother, the DDJ-RB2..
Serato have renamed the versions they sell to more reflect what the software offers. See the diagram below
